Seasonal Variations of the 7 Be Solar Neutrino Flux ∗
نویسنده
چکیده
Measuring the 7Be solar neutrino flux is crucial towards solving the solar neutrino puzzle. The Borexino experiment, and possibly the KamLAND experiment, will be capable of studying the 7Be neutrinos in the near future. We discuss (1) how the seasonal variation of the Borexino and KamLAND data can be used to measure the 7Be solar neutrino flux in a background independent way and (2) how anomalous seasonal variations might be used to discover vacuum neutrino oscillations, independent of the solar model and the measurement of the background. In particular, we find that, after three years of Borexino or KamLAND running, vacuum neutrino oscillations can be either established or excluded for almost all values of (sin 2θ,∆m2) preferred by the Homestake, GALLEX, SAGE, and Super-Kamiokande data. We also discuss how well seasonal variations of the data can be used to measure (sin 2θ,∆m2) in the case of vacuum oscillations. Vacuum oscillations of solar neutrinos: correlation between spectrum distortion and seasonal variations
Long length vacuum oscillations solution of the solar neutrino problem is discussed. We show that there is a strict correlation between a distortion of the neutrino energy spectrum and an amplitude of seasonal variations of the neutrino flux. The slope parameter which characterizes a distortion of the recoil electron energy spectrum in the Super-Kamiokande experiment and the seasonal asymmetry ...
متن کاملEffect of Coulomb collisions on time variations of the solar neutrino flux
We consider the possibility of time variations of the solar neutrino flux due to the radial motion of the Earth and neutrino interference effects. We calculate the time variations of the detected neutrino flux and the extent to which they are suppressed by Coulomb collisions of the neutrino emitting nuclei. We treat the process of neutrino emission under the second quantization method. A neutri...
متن کاملVacuum oscillations and the distorted solar neutrino spectrum observed by Superkamiokande
The excess of solar-neutrino events above 13 MeV that has been recently observed by Superkamiokande can be explained by vacuum oscillations (VO). If the boron neutrino flux is 20% smaller than the standard solar model (SSM) prediction and the chlorine signal is assumed 30% (or 3.5σ) higher than the measured one, there exists a VO solution that reproduces both the observed boron neutrino spectru...
متن کاملSeasonal and energy dependence of solar neutrino vacuum oscillations
We make a global vacuum neutrino oscillation analysis of solar neutrino data, including the seasonal and energy dependence of the recent Super–Kamiokande 708day results. The best fit parameters for νe oscillations to an active neutrino are δm = 4.42 × 10 eV, sin 2θ = 0.93. The allowed mixing angle region is consistent with bi–maximal mixing of three neutrinos. Oscillations to a sterile neutrino...

We consider the possibility of MSW time variations of the solar neutrino flux due to the radial motion of the Earth and neutrino interference effects. We have calculated the time variations of the detected neutrino flux including collisional decoherence and all other significant physical decoherence effects. For two types of neutrinos there are two MSW neutrino adiabatic solutions, + and −. In ...
